The True Essence of Being a Good Person

Today, I came across a reel that deeply inspired me. It talked about the true essence of being a good person—not just through words or actions, but through the atmosphere we create when we are around others. It made me reflect on how I impact the people around me.
Often, we measure goodness by the things we say or do—kind words, helpful deeds, or acts of generosity. While these are important, this message reminded me that what truly matters is the energy we bring into a space. Do people feel safe, valued, and uplifted when they are with me? Or do they feel anxious, uncomfortable, or unseen?
I realized that being a good person is about presence. It’s about making others feel at peace, giving them the confidence to be themselves, and leaving them with a sense of warmth. It’s in the unspoken things—the way we listen, the way we make others feel heard, and the quiet reassurance we bring through our presence.
This reflection challenges me to be more mindful of the kind of energy I share with others. Instead of just focusing on doing good things, I want to focus on being someone who naturally creates an environment of kindness, comfort, and encouragement. Because, in the end, people may forget what I say or do, but they will always remember how I made them feel.
